Add a Finishing Touch
How often have you entered a truly beautiful room and wondered what made it so beautiful? You look around and examine each of the features individually, yet the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It is simply a lovely room.
One of the secrets of great designers/decorators is how they know how to tie all the colours in a room together, without over accentuating any one of them. They use the subtle psychology of colour to please the eye and the mind. And how do they do this, you may be asking yourself?
There are many answers and opinions to this question, but one of the simplest and most affordable answers it by using throw cushions.
Throw cushions are an easy and attractive way to brighten, tie together, and alter the elements of décor in a room. You probably have one or two on a chair or chesterfield. Take a look at them and ask yourself these questions:
- What colour is most noticeable?
- Does the colour match anything in the room?
- Do they influence my eye to any particular, and less attractive portion of the room?
If you do not like your answers to these questions, maybe you should consider the purchase of some new throw cushions that would more attractively compliment your home or office.
Throw cushions are an inexpensive way to enhance, co-ordinate, and finish a room.

Throw cushion filling.
The material that is used to fill a throw cushion directly affects its comfort. There are three types of materials that are commonly used.
Terylene. Terylene is a nylon batting material made to simulate cotton felt. Terylene, however, is much more durable than cotton felt. Terylene comes in hard and soft types.
Comforel. Comforel is soft terylene that has been essentially shredded into tiny pieces. Comforel can very closely simulate the look and feel of feather, but does not compress as quickly.
Feathers. The granddaddy of cushion materials. Feathers and down are very soft and plush and can be very comfortable. However, feathers break down over time and some people are allergic to them.
